Greetings All,
This time I’m going to discuss a performance Da Underdoggs had during Bayou Classic weekend in New Orleans. It was at a venue in the French Quarter called Ray’s Boom Boom Room. The small event was hosted by a couple of promoters and they named it “The Show”. It was to be a showcase of a few of New Orleans’ own up and coming talent. It also featured a few other artists including Da Underdoggs!! The performance was great. Before then, these guys haven’t performed together in awhile. And let me tell you it was like they never missed a beat. First off we had a guy up DJing for every artist that performed. Artist would have to prompt him to go to the next track and this would really fuck up the flow of the performance. Sorry for cursing. Anyway, a week prior to the show T-Blakes and I decided we needed to have a performance CD created. Now I would highly recommend this to any artist trying to come up but does not have a certified DJ. Once we all agreed on which songs should be performed and the order of them, I brought the music over to my homie DJ Lock so he could do his thing. The performance disc would soon be set to where all the DJ at the spot would have to do is press play and let the disc run.
Fast forwarding to the show, Da Underdoggs were up and E To Da Z was called to set everything of with his mixtape song Solemnly Promise! He just comes out in your face with “So roll the trees and light the ganja, in a 6 bumpin Summer Rain by Carl Thomas…………”. Then T-Blakes comes behind E To Da Z with his mixtape track Mr. Blake! He starts out with “Still got dreams tryna get a platinum record, we aint get it yet but it aint from a lack of effort” Next song they did together. It was also a track off their mixtape called Wuts Happnin. And they ripped it. They then would begin to perform some of their original tracks. They performed Give Em What Want. This is a track produced by my dude Pauleon Da Don. It had the crowd rocking. They also went into Groove Out, this is a song which everybody who has gone to club at least once in their lifetime can relate to. It was produced by the homie Mel. It is a song about random people that just seems to get in the way when you try to maneuver throughout the club and people just gets in your way. Blakes sets it off with “I’m in the spot laid back lookin quit splendid, High as Howard Hughes got on some aviator lenses” E does his thing right behind Blakes. After the performance the crowd reaction was excellent. Da Underdoggs have been doing their thing ever since and has a whole new catalog of songs for them to perform. Stay tuned for more.
